A public-private partnership providing three-year grants to Oakland-based collaborations between cultural organizations or civically engaged artists and social change organizations to advance racial justice, transform power relations, and develop policy-change-oriented prototypes or frameworks for a more just and equitable Oakland.
Who can apply
The lead applicant must be an Oakland-based organization with 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) status, or an organization with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor in good standing with the IRS. The applicant must be a social change organization or a cultural organization working with civically oriented artists or cultural practitioners, and must collaborate across those organizational types. Organizations should have an operating budget of at least $500,000, be deeply rooted in Oakland communities impacted by structural racism, and demonstrate a record of shaping racial or social justice-oriented policies or practices. The collaboration must center Oakland communities and include critical participation by Oakland artists or cultural practitioners.
